The place

Burke’s Holiday Cottages are two self-catering houses at Rathnamagh, a townland outside Crossmolina in north Mayo. They stand next to one another on the same lane, looking out towards Nephin.

The two houses are identical inside — four double bedrooms each, sleeping eight, with an open-plan kitchen and living area and a separate sitting room. So a family takes one, and a larger party takes both without anyone arguing about who got the better house. Wifi, bed linen, towels, electricity and central heating are all included, and the gardens are enclosed.

Crossmolina is two and a half miles away and Ballina five, which puts Lough Conn, the River Moy and the north Mayo coast within an easy drive. This is quiet country: the nearest thing to nightlife is the sound of the Deel.

  • We are on our way home from a week's holiday in this great property. We can highly recommend it for other holidaymakers that want to visit western Ireland. Ray made us feel very welcome, in a way we have not experienced earlier on our many vacations abroad. Ray thought of every little detail. Lovely house, great facilities, loads of information on County Mayo and other areas in Ireland. We look forward to coming back. One week was definitely not enough for us.
